![]() ![]() The team was heavily inspired by samurai cinema, particularly films directed by Akira Kurosawa, as well as the comic book series Usagi Yojimbo. The studio collaborated with Japan Studio and visited Tsushima Island twice to ensure that the game was as culturally and historically authentic as possible. Sucker Punch began developing the game after the release of Infamous First Light in 2014, as the studio wanted to move on from the Infamous franchise to create a game with a heavy emphasis on melee combat. A multiplayer mode titled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends was released in October 2020 and made available separately in September 2021. When facing enemies, the player can choose to engage in a direct confrontation using Jin's katana or to become a legendary warrior known as "the Ghost" by using stealth tactics to assassinate opponents. You automatically liberate some Outposts as part of the story: 2 in Izuhara (Komatsu Forge, Castle Kaneda), 1 in Toyotama (Castle Shimura), 1 in Kamiagata (Izumi Village). It’s also worth noting that some of these (Farms in particular) don’t show up until you reach the 2nd Region. In fact, after the story they all get marked on the map for you automatically! This takes out a lot of the search work for you. You can still free-roam after the story to liberate them. Region 1: Izuhara has 24 Occupied Areas, Region 2: Toyotama has 17 Occupied Areas, Region 3: Kamiagata has 15 Occupied Areas. There are 3 Regions in Ghost of Tsushima.
